OPS Emergency Workshop

This Workshop is designed to disseminate best practices for postpartum hemorrhage, hypertension disorders of pregnancy, and maternal sepsis to obstetric, emergency department, medical/surgical, intensive care, and critical access clinicians. Through active simulation and debriefing, this Workshop will improve the clinician’s recognition of, readiness for, response to, and reporting of postpartum hemorrhage, hypertension disorders of pregnancy, and maternal sepsis providing greater access for women to receive early, effective, and aggressive life-saving treatments for obstetric emergencies.

Learning Outcomes

  • Discuss, review, and return demonstrate effective management for pregnant or

    postpartum women who present with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

  • Discuss, review, and return demonstrate effective management for women who have

    excessive bleeding after giving birth.

  • Discuss, review, and return demonstrate effective management of maternal sepsis.

  • Role-play with a multidisciplinary team using simulation-based cognitive, behavioral,

    and technical learning strategies to practice management of postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and maternal sepsis.

 

AWHONN is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. AWHONN is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, a Provider #CEP580.

CME is provided through AffinityCE.

  • Please complete the prerequisite within 30 days of the in-person course and send your certificate to melissa@peakrn.com. Failure to complete the prerequisites 3 days before the course will result in you being denied entry.

 

Confirmation Email & OPS Participant Code:

After you purchase the course materials from AWHONN, you will receive an email with your OPS Participant Code, information on how to access your prerequisite course, and how obtain your contact hour certificate. DO NOT LOSE THIS CODE because you need it to evaluate and obtain your CNE/CME credits after the workshop.

 

  • Your AWHONN confirmation email will provide you with a link to the AWHONN Learning Management Center to complete your prerequisite education.

  • Student materials for the in-person course are also included in your AWHONN confirmation email.
